New Company Secures Funding and Proves
Innovation is Not Dead
Menlo Park, CA – June 2, 2025 – Above All
Software, founded and led by Roger Sippl, provides software that
helps companies take advantage of the unprecedented access to
corporate information available through Web services. Leading
venture firms JPMorgan Partners, Adobe, Granite Ventures and
SipplMacdonald Ventures invested $6.5 million in Above All Software
while the company was in "stealth mode" in 2002. The company
announced the beginning of its beta test period today.
One of the biggest problems in corporations today
is that while millions of dollars have been invested in enterprise
software, each application is a separate entity, housing its own
business logic and information. Companies are still struggling with
how to transact with multiple related systems in an easy and
cost-effective way. Web services, if harnessed properly, can make
these interactions easy, and change the way we all work.
"While Web services have been discussed excitedly
for a couple of years now, the true power of what these enterprise
'software robots' provide has not been tapped," said Roger Sippl,
CEO of Above All Software. "When business users can directly take
advantage of these services there will be a significant productivity
impact. The situation is similar to the relational database
management revolution of the 1980's. At the time, the relational
database made tables of data available on-line and provided easy to
understand tools for information workers to integrate information
together from multiple tables. Today, our new 'Application Browser'
provides that same interactive access, but this time allows workers
to relate together whole chunks of business logic from major
applications."
Above All Software provides the first technology
of its kind, letting anyone in the organization build new
applications with point-and-click ease. The result is that
organizations can now respond immediately to changing business
requirements without the long and costly software acquisition,
integration or development lifecycles.
Using Above All Software's AppBrowser™, any user
within the organization intuitively searches for business logic
exposed as a Web service or other callable interface such as a
database stored procedure. Users then easily assemble together just
the functions they need, creating instant and functional
applications that help them interact with the information they need
to do their jobs better. Because these new applications utilize
already proven enterprise applications and legacy systems, they are
higher quality, less costly and more quickly developed than
alternative approaches to integration. Costs are further reduced
because applications are assembled and not coded, requiring less
specialized technical skills and involves no programming.
"The Web services Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
really is the 'next big thing', and we invested in Above All
Software because they leverage that infrastructure and actually make
it useful directly by the business users. They are the 'last mile'
of the SOA solution delivery system." said Tom Furlong of Granite
Ventures. "Also, since Roger is one of the few Silicon Valley
executives to have won the 'Hat Trick Award' from JP Morgan’s
Cristina Morgan for taking three companies public, we knew he would
build a terrific team."
Led by Mr. Sippl, Above All Software has
attracted a proven and seasoned executive team, averaging more than
17 years of operating experience, from companies such as Informix,
The Vantive Corporation, BroadVision, Oracle, MarketFirst, Visigenic
and Baan. Above All Software's executive management team includes
Gino Padua, VP of Sales and Business Development; Chris Maloney, VP
of Research and Development; Tommy Hawkins, VP of Partner
Engineering; and Deborah Scharfetter, VP of Product Marketing.
Roger Sippl is a well-known innovator of
enterprise software. Mr. Sippl founded Informix and Visigenic
Software and co-founded of The Vantive Corporation. All three
companies founded by Mr. Sippl traded publicly and were successfully
acquired: Informix by IBM, Vantive by Peoplesoft and Visigenic by
Borland. Vantive was one of the first client/server packaged
software companies, pioneering repository-based architectures and
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions. Visigenic Software
was one of the first application server companies, pioneering the
concept of sharable server-based business logic. In addition, Mr.
Sippl has invested through his venture firm, SipplMacdonald
Ventures, in leading companies such as Illustra, BroadVision,
SupportSoft and Red Pepper Software. SupportSoft and BroadVision are
publicly-traded standalone companies.
The Above All Software board of directors is
comprised of Sippl, Furlong and Buck French from JP Morgan Partners.
Mr. French was the founder of OnLink Technology, now part of Siebel
Systems.
AppBrowser is currently available through a beta
program. Above All Software is proud to participate in the upcoming
DCI Real-Time Enterprise conference in Chicago on June 10th through
12th. Information about the DCI conference is available online at
www.dci.com.
Above All Software is pioneering point-and-click
software that enables the rapid assembly of composite applications
that are based on existing information resources such as enterprise
applications, legacy systems and database procedures. With no
programming and no changes to existing systems, both business and
technical users can assemble solutions that integrate critical
business functions like sales, finance and manufacturing. Above All
Software is based in Menlo Park, California and backed by a leading
group of investors that include JPMorgan Partners, Granite Ventures,
Adobe and SipplMacdonald Ventures. More information about Above All
Software is available online at
