Roger J. Sippl

Co-Founder and CEO, Above All Software, Inc.

 

Roger Sippl has over twenty years of senior operations and chief executive experience with technology companies.  He was founder of Informix Software, Inc. in 1980.  Under his direction, Informix pioneered SQL relational databases, 4GL application development tools, and OLTP database technology for the UNIX operating environment, personal computers and networks.  He was the first chairman of the SQL Access Group, and served on the X/Open Board of Directors representing the software industry.  Sippl also served on the UNIX International Executive Committee and is a founding board member of Uniforum, the first UNIX trade organization and show.  

Sippl was a co-founder and chairman of The Vantive Corporation serving on the board for nine years from 1990 until 1998.  Vantive went public in 1995. He founded Visigenic Software in 1993, and helped pioneer distributed object computing in enterprises. Visigenic went public in 1996 and was acquired in 1998. During the nineties, Sippl invested privately in several other software companies, including Illustra (acquired by Informix) and Red Pepper (acquired by PeopleSoft).

Sippl is now managing partner of Sippl Macdonald Ventures, together with his partner, Jackie Macdonald.  He participates in board level, advisory and investment activities with over twenty high technology companies.  Sippl Macdonald Ventures invested in private rounds of BroadVision (NASDAQ BVSN),  Kiva (acquired by Netscape) and Critical Path (IPO March, 1999).  Sippl is currently on the boards of Extempo Systems, Inc., SupportSoft, Inc., Haht Software and advisor to TimesTen , Inc., a main memory database company.  He was also a shareholder of Cloudscape, Inc., an all java DBMS provider, acquired by Informix.

 Sippl holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.


Chris Maloney

Co-Founder and Vice-President of Research and Development, Above All Software, Inc. 

Chris Maloney has 20 years experience with leading database software companies. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Pencel Corporation. There he designed and led development of Kinectivity � a 4GL application development system that enables systems developers to quickly create business applications that allow �occasionally connected� handheld computers to utilize enterprise databases and applications systems.

Previously, Maloney served as Vice President of Technology for Visual Components, Inc. While there he identified and implemented the product strategy from startup through successful acquisition by Sybase, Inc. Visual Components created application software components for client/server development tools. Earlier in his career, Maloney held several positions at Informix Software, Inc. including Vice President of Product Development. Maloney created the specification for the Informix flagship product Informix-4GL and led the development team for the Informix database data access system. Later he was responsible for development of Viewpoint, a Windows based tool set for "non-programmers" and directed a 100 person development group responsible for Informix's "shrink wrap" business products.


Deborah Scharfetter,

Vice President of Product Marketing, Above All Software, Inc.

Deborah Scharfetter has over 15 years experience designing, implementing, positioning and delivering enterprise software applications.  She was the fourth employee to join the Vantive Corporation in 1991 and was instrumental in designing and delivering their suite of CRM applications and their customization toolkit.  She was with Vantive until 1998 during which time she held the positions Vice President of Engineering and Chief Architect. Scharfetter spent much of her time working with prospects and customers to define the application suite and customization capabilities.  Prior to Vantive Scharfetter held various technical and software engineering positions at C*ATS Software, Oracle, and Koch Systems.  She graduated with a BS in Computer Science from San Francisco State University in 1986.


Gino Padua

Vice President, Sales & Business Development, Above All Software, Inc.

Gino Padua has 16 years experience with leading enterprise application software companies. He joins Above All Software from BroadVision were he held posts such as VP Sales, VP WW Business Development and VP WW Channels and Strategic Alliances. During his tenure at Broadvision, Gino Padua�s leadership and contributions helped drive company revenues from $80M to over $400M. Prior to working at Broadvision, He held leadership posts at the Baan Company, where he was responsible for strategic direction and tactical day-to-day sales operations for emerging vertical markets. Prior to this position at Baan, Padua served as director of operations for Beologic A/G, Denmark - US, a subsidiary of Aurum Software. Before working at Aurum, he held sales and sales management positions at Brock Control Systems and Xscribe Corporation.
